“Ex-cel-lent!” is the adjective one can *always* count on hearing Alan Blitz over-enunciate whenever you’re within earshot of him. It’s his universal response—ask him how his weekend is going, how the brisket turned out, or whether the chairs should be stacked or lined up, and you’ll get the same enthusiastic verdict. Alan’s unwavering devotion to this single word is a constant reminder of his relentlessly positive outlook on life—an outlook the Temple Sinai Men’s Club has been happily riding like a cheerful wave.

Alan has earned recognition as our Man of the Year for reasons both big and small (and some that defy standard measurement). He stepped up to become President of the Men’s Club when his predecessor prematurely vacated the position, and he even served an uncharacteristically-long three-year term—practically a lifetime in Men’s Club years. Alan is endlessly generous with his time, ensuring our Sukkah is built safely and on schedule each year, and overseeing more events through our catering group, Men in the Kitchen, than most of us can count without a spreadsheet.

And through it all, one thing is certain: ask Alan how it’s going, and the answer will always be… you guessed it… “Ex-cel-lent!”
